Goodyear seeking public input on parks, trails and open space plan

What: Parks, Recreation, Trails and Open Space Master Plan Public Meeting

When: Wednesday, May 14, 6 p.m.

Where: Goodyear Branch of Maricopa Library District Community Room, 14455 West Van Buren Street, Suite C102.

The Goodyear Parks and Recreation Department is inviting the public to come help shape the future of the city’s outdoor and recreation spaces by providing input on its master plan. The plan includes some of the most attractive trails and areas in the West Valley, along the Estrella Mountains and the Sonoran Valley.

Members of the public will have an opportunity to provide input on the draft document before it is reviewed by the Goodyear City Council.

The plan focuses on the city’s commitment to a quality parks and recreation system that delivers high-        quality parks, trails and recreation programs, facilities, and events for all residents, while contributing to its economic well-being. To meet this commitment, the plan is organized around four themes:

            • Trails that connect the community and connect the community to open space
            • Promoting community health through recreation programs
            • Fee philosophy
            • Partnerships and options for funding

Residents also may preview the document at www.goodyearaz.gov/parksmasterplan and email comments or questions to parksmasterplan@goodyearaz.gov.
