Goodyear launches new website, mobile app
City website, www.goodyearaz.gov, has new look, more user friendly
The address is the same, but the city’s neighborhood of news and information highway has a whole new look and is easier to travel.
The city of Goodyear has launched a new and improved website – hailed as the “front door of City Hall” for residents seeking information – and also has launched a new mobile device app. The website is more aesthetically pleasing and easier to follow. The new mobile app has more features and is more user friendly by allowing more community engagement.
The design of the website, www.goodyearaz.gov which came online July 1, was a work in progress since January done by California-based Vision Internet, a government website developer that helps cities modernize the look and functions of their websites. The city’s communications staff also plans to make the site more compatible with the city’s social media sites – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.
“With more people visiting our website each month from a mobile device, we needed to update the website to make it mobile friendly,” said Geoff Kinnerk, digital communications administrator who was the project manager for the website overhaul. “Updated front end features and backend integration capabilities with current city systems allowed us to create a website that was dynamic and cutting edge compared to other cities.”
“The new site has the ability to scale properly to fit the screen of most modern tablets and phones,” Kinnerk added.
Included among the content-rich sub-sites are economic development - http://develop.goodyearaz.com - that lets site selectors and developers know Goodyear is the sixth fastest growing city in the United States and why it’s important to locate their business there in a business friendly environment with the new site being more user friendly.
“It’s all top-line content,” said Ernie Prukner, marketing coordinator for the Economic Development Department, who has spearheaded development of the site for the last three months. “Goodyear has a highly-educated and skilled workforce, and this site lets those looking to locate or open a business know what Goodyear has to offer.”
Prukner added that the economic development sub-site will add more features in the future.
The Goodyear Ballpark sub-site also is rich in content, providing real-time spring training information about the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians ranging from ticket sales, game schedules, the Team Shop as well as stories about events at the ballpark throughout the year.
For the most current information about events at Goodyear Ballpark, visit www.goodyearbp.com to check out the events calendar.
“We tried to make it as easy as possible for people to find the information they are looking for,” said Debbie Diveney, who oversees marketing and business operations for Goodyear Ballpark.
