Help Beautify Our City

adoptastreet1

Goodyear's "Adopt-A-Street" program gives local groups and organizations an opportunity to be involved in the community by controlling litter and weeds in an assigned segment of a City street.

Private corporations, non-profit or for-profit groups, clubs and organizations are all eligible to participate; or put together your own group of interested individuals.

Each Team will receive safety and procedure training by the City, as well as safety vests to be worn while on duty. At least four times a year, the Team will pick up litter, pull or cut weeds and remove any light debris such as home-made signs. Large or heavy objects, or hazardous materials, will simply be reported for later removal by City staff.

To acknowledge their efforts, the City will provide signs at each end of the Team's assigned street segment, identifying the group or organization which maintains the area.

There are a few restrictions:

  • All participants must be at least 18 years of age
  • Teams will not pick up litter in the roadway or in the medians
  • Each organization is asked to participate for a minimum of two years
  • Each volunteer must submit a Volunteer Waiver prior to working

How to get started

Please review the detailed Policies and Procedures, Safety Requirements, and forms listed at the right. Then have your contact person call Judi Switanek, Goodyear Volunteer Coordinator at 623-882-7807 or by email, to learn more and begin the process.

Thank you to the following groups for their participation in the "Adopt-A-Street" program: Alan & Kate, Jude & Jo T, Rosenberg Family, Pat's Pack, Jesse Meza Memorial, West Valley Cycle, Palm Valley Church, 607 Air Control Squadron, Duncan Family Farms, Lighthouse Fellowship and West Valley Church of Christ.
