Bill Stipp was elected to his second four-year Council term in the Spring of 2015. His priorities as a Councilmember include supporting conservative fiscal policies, government efficiency, assisting small businesses, maintaining our upscale community standards, and protecting our neighborhoods with strong public safety agencies.
Councilmember Stipp brings 30 years of public sector experience to the Council from Illinois, Massachusetts, and Arizona which included work on national, state and regional committees, contract mediation, municipal operations and public sector budgeting. Currently employed by a national consulting firm as Senior Vice President specializing in government relations, strategic planning and organizational assessment, he works throughout the country and brings best practices from other communities back to our city. Councilmember Stipp also serves as a Joint Forces military contractor in Homeland Defense as a Subject Matter Expert in Command and Control Operations.
Councilmember Stipp serves as the Chairperson for Goodyear's Public Safety Retirement Boards, the Goodyear Volunteer Firefighters Pension Board, the City Council Audit Committee, and the Community Funding Committee. Regionally, he serves on the Arizona Municipal Water Users Association (AMWUA) Board of Directors. Nationally, he served on the steering committee of the National League of Cities' Crime Prevention and Public Safety Committee for three years. He has served on the Council Sub-committee for Boards and Commissions, as the Council Representative to Historic Goodyear Neighborhood Alliance, and as the city's alternate to the County's Community Development Advisory Committee (CDAC). Councilmember Stipp earned his Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Grand Canyon University, a Bachelor’s Degree from Southern Illinois University, and achieved the Executive Fire Officer Designation from the National Fire Academy.
A Goodyear resident since 2001, Councilmember Stipp and his wife Lisa of 29 years have two children.
