A Tale of Two Cities Parade & Festival
Join us for an International Celebration
On Saturday, February 22, 2014, the cities of Goodyear and Avondale will host a joint parade through both cities. “An International Celebration” – that’s the theme of the second annual exciting, family-focused celebration.
After a highly successful inaugural event in 2012 to honor the statehood Centennial celebrations, Avondale and Goodyear have decided to make the combined festival and parade an annual event. Similar to last year, the parade will again take place on Thomas Road, from Litchfield to Dysart Roads, beginning at 10 a.m. and ending with the festival at Estrella Mountain Community College. (view Road Closure Map).
Depending on the number of entrants, the parade is expected to last anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half. We are currently seeking parade entrants - floats, bands, vintage cars, horses, gymnastic troops, dance troops, or other entertaining parade entries.
This year’s theme of “An International Celebration” adds international flavor to the Tale of Two Cities Event. The parade will promote the cultural theme; music and performances from a variety of artists complement the experience. Vendors and community groups offering a diverse assortment of products, including arts and crafts, are invited to sell at the event, as well as concessionaires that share authentic food and international cuisine from nations around the world! Festival admission is free and includes music and entertainment, a kids’ zone, vendor booths, cultural-related displays and more.
