Goodyear Legislative Online Resource
Government Relations & Communications Manager
Welcome to the City of Goodyear's on line legislative resource page! As you may be aware, our Governmental Relations staff, with guidance from our City Council, is constantly working to advocate for our community at the local, state, and federal level. It is a year round process involving a variety of stakeholders with our staffed engaged and working to ensure the best outcome for community and our citizens.
A significant portion of that activity focuses on the annual state legislative process. The First Regular Session of the 51st Legislature of the State of Arizona convened on Monday, January 14, 2013. As it does every year, the legislature will consider a very large number of bills. Of course of all the bills considered only a portion will actually become laws.
During the legislative session staff is actively tracking legislation to ensure that our community's interests are represented. But we as a City do not undertake these activities in a vacuum. We actively work with various organizations, including other valley cities and towns, in order to pool our resources and maximize to the fullest extent possible our ability to deter those pieces of legislation that might not be in the best interest of our community.
But we would also like you, our citizens, to be aware of what's going on at the legislature as the laws passed often have an impact your daily lives. We are therefore introducing this section to our website where you can see what important bills are currently pending. In addition there are a variety of links to various informational resources that will help keep you up to date and informed. We hope you find this information useful.
