Southwest Valley HOA Academy

 The Southwest Valley HOA Academy provides HOA instruction every Spring and Fall, through a City of Goodyear partnership with the City of Avondale and the City of Buckeye. The Saturday, April 18, 2015 session agenda includes the following topics:

  • Fundamental Principles of the Federal Fair Housing Act, The basics of the Fair Housing Act and how it relates to community associations. Stan Silas, Community Legal Services
  • Implementing Community Association Rental Restrictions, Learn about Arizona law related to community association rental restrictions, necessary requirements for renting, grandfather clauses, how to monitor rentals, and renter’s liability. Mulcahy Law Firm, P.C.
  • Legislative Update, Mulcahy Law Firm, P.C.
  • Understanding Hoarding, Hoarding can have a significant impact on any community. This class will provide a basic understanding of this complex behavioral disorder and ways to approach a hoarder. Mary Dickson, Arizona Hoarding Task Force

The Academy will be conducted at Avondale City Hall, Sonoran Room, 11465 W. Civic Center Drive, Avondale, AZ from 8:30AM - 2PM. Registration is required and the cost to attend is $5 per person and includes lunch. Register online using barcode number: 7111.

 

HOA Training Seminars

These one day classes are designed for HOA board members and neighborhood leaders. This "nuts and bolts" course provides an overview of the responsibilities and challenges associated with running a homeowners' association. Participants also receive an overview of legal and financial issues, creating and enforcing restrictions, the transition process, and reserve studies. This class is taught by an attorney and other experts in the field.
